Lightning Baseball of New England is one of the most successful travel baseball organizations in New England and the country. We recruit the best players ages 12-16 from MA, NH, VT and ME. Our goal is to develop our players to compete at the next level.
Recruiting — To compete at the national level we must recruit players from all over New England. Our competition is not other teams in Massachusetts or even New England. We view our competition as teams from the South and West. As a result local town teams are not talented enough to be successful at the national level even if they have gone to Williamsport and won the Little League World Series.
Successes — Between 1996 and 2008 we had a dozen top 10 finishes, including 3 National Titles in AAU. Since 2008 we have finished in the top 5 twice at CABA World Series tournaments.
We have had greater than 20 players drafted since 1999 including three 1st round selections and more than 100 players earn college scholarships since our first player graduated from high school in 1995.
Teaching Philosophy — We prepare our players to play at the next level whether it’s HS, college or pros. We train them in the proper fundamentals of both individual and team play and we teach at the “college level.” Obviously our younger teams don’t execute as well as our older teams but everyone learns the same approach to playing the game.
Indoor Training — Through our association with the Extra Innings Training Centers we offer year round workouts, instruction, and coaching. Remember our competition (teams the south and West) is playing games while there is still snow on the ground. Our coaching staff has extensive college and pro experience (we have no parents on the coaching staffs). They know what it takes to develop players.
Age Levels — We field travel teams at multiple age levels. In addition, through our association with Extra Innings we field teams that compete in their fall baseball league.
A Program Not a Team — Lightning Baseball of New England is a program, not just teams at various age levels. Our goal is to provide the guidance to develop each player to advance to the highest possible level HS, college, or professional baseball.
We have passed the test of time. Other teams come and go as the players of the parents who started the teams become to old to play. We have been successful since 1994 and will continue to be successful using the Lightning Baseball experience.
